Mamelodi Sundowns have added another continental title to their history after overcoming AS FAR of Morocco 2-1 on aggregate in the CAF Champions League final. A 1-1 draw in Rabat followed a 1-0 win in the first leg at home, securing their second Champions League crown.

The result also marks a return to the top of African club football for the South African side, more than a decade after their first triumph in 2016.

Beyond the title, CAF Champions League winners receive prize money of around USD 4 million, based on recent CAF prize structures. Final confirmed figures for the specific season should be verified with CAF.

The club may qualify to compete in the CAF Super Cup, which is contested between the CAF Champions League winners and the CAF Confederation Cup winners. The opponent is only confirmed once the Confederation Cup winner is decided.

CAF Champions League winners also represent Africa in the FIFA Intercontinental Cup, depending on the tournament format confirmed for that edition. Match-ups are determined by FIFA based on club and confederation champions.

Qualification for future FIFA Club World Cup editions is not automatically secured through a single CAF Champions League title and depends on FIFA’s qualification criteria for that cycle.

The victory further reinforces Sundowns’ standing in continental football and adds to their growing domestic and international reputation.
