The identity of one of the women found dead in Kempton Park has been confirmed.
Her family identified Gracious Nkomo, 28, at the Germiston Mortuary yesterday.
Her body was found along the R21 on 10 September. She was the third woman discovered in the Kempton Park area that day.
Nkomo was found partially clothed.
Her death is being investigated by the South African Police Service, which is also probing the deaths of other women whose bodies have been found in the area.
Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane said investigators were continuing to work on the cases.
A multidisciplinary team is examining the circumstances surrounding the deaths and following leads to establish who was responsible, she said.
“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Gracious Nkomo during this extremely difficult time,” said Dimpane.
“Our investigators remain seized with these cases, and we will continue to pursue every available lead to ensure that those responsible for these murders are brought to justice,” she said.
Police operations in Kempton Park have been stepped up while the investigations continue.
