The South African Football Association has taken the next step towards its Elective Congress by submitting nomination documents to the independent Governance Committee.

The documents were presented during a media briefing at SAFA House this week. Chief Executive Officer Lydia Monyepao handed the files to Governance Committee chairperson Victor Mogajane and committee members in the presence of the media.

The committee’s next task is to assess all nominations submitted before the closing date of 29 July. It will determine whether candidates meet the requirements set out in the SAFA statutes.

The committee will also deal with any issues that may arise during the verification process.

Monyepao said the handover marked the official start of the committee’s work ahead of the September congress.

“This press conference aimed to hand over all the files with all the nominations that we have received on 29 July 2026, which was the deadline for the submission of nominations for various positions within the SAFA executive committee,” she said.

The SAFA Elective Congress is scheduled to take place on 12 September.

Mogajane said the committee had just under four weeks to complete its work before making its submission.

“The SAFA Elective Congress is on 12 September 2026, and we have almost four weeks to work on these files before you. Our submission will probably be around 28 August 2026, and so we will hit the ground running in that regard,” said Mogajane.

“We really appreciate that we have been entrusted with this responsibility once more in 2026,” he said.
