Sisisi Tolashe’s troubles within the African National Congress continue to intensify, with the party moving her case into formal disciplinary proceedings.

The African National Congress has referred the former Social Development Minister to its National Disciplinary Committee following findings by the party’s Integrity Commission.

The commission identified Tolashe and four other senior members as having brought the organisation into disrepute. The matter has now been escalated through the party’s formal internal structures.

ANC Secretary General Fikile Mbalula said at a media briefing at Luthuli House today that the National Executive Committee has adopted the commission’s report. He said the NEC has also taken on the role of complainant, formally triggering disciplinary processes within the party.

Tolashe has also been told to step down as a Member of Parliament and as president of the ANC Women’s League. These steps form part of broader enforcement action against senior party officials.

Mbalula said the process is not limited to one individual and confirmed that several ANC members are also facing disciplinary hearings as part of the same Integrity Commission recommendations.

The developments follow her reported removal from the Cabinet by President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this month.

Her dismissal came amid allegations involving state-linked resources and questions over luxury vehicles linked to the ANC Women’s League, registered in the names of her children.

Deputy President Paul Mashatile told Parliament last week that the President acted after Tolashe failed to provide a satisfactory explanation when questioned about the matter.

Sindisiwe Chikunga is currently serving as acting Minister of Social Development while the portfolio awaits a permanent appointment.

Inside the ANC, the Integrity Commission’s findings have been central to the escalation of disciplinary action. The NEC had awaited its formal recommendations before proceeding.

The latest move places Tolashe under formal internal disciplinary processes that affect both her parliamentary position and her party leadership role. Proceedings are now underway within the ANC’s structures.

Tolashe has not commented on the latest developments.
