The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has announced the establishment of a new Strategic Presidential Team, replacing the party’s Presidential Task Team.
The party said the structure was created by MK Party president Jacob Zuma to strengthen decision-making, improve coordination and provide strategic direction as it works to implement its political programme.
The Strategic Presidential Team will serve as the party’s highest strategic leadership structure. It will be responsible for organisational oversight, governance and ensuring the implementation of party resolutions.
The team’s mandate includes providing long-term strategic planning and guiding the organisation’s direction. It will also oversee the implementation of party policies, programmes and resolutions.
The party said the structure would exercise oversight over the secretariat, administration and financial governance.
It will also focus on improving coordination and operational effectiveness across MK Party structures.
The Strategic Presidential Team will lead the party’s electoral strategy, campaigning and voter mobilisation efforts. It will monitor implementation, performance and accountability throughout the organisation.
The party said the new structure would promote unity, discipline, renewal and organisational cohesion within the MK Party.
The announcement comes with the immediate dissolution of the Presidential Task Team. The party said all powers, responsibilities and functions of the previous structure would be transferred to the Strategic Presidential Team.
Zuma expressed confidence in the new leadership structure, saying it would strengthen the party’s leadership capacity, enhance strategic execution and support the fulfilment of its constitutional mandate and political mission.
The MK Party called on its leaders, Members of Parliament, public representatives, members and organisational structures to support and implement the decision.
The party said collective efforts would be needed to advance unity, strengthen the organisation and work towards electoral success.
