The case against North West businessman Brown Mogotsi has been postponed to Monday, 25 May, for address verification and a formal bail application.
Mogotsi made a brief appearance at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court today following his arrest shortly after completing testimony before the Madlanga Commission.
The arrests come as a result of an incident which occurred on 3 November 2025 in Vosloorus, Extension 25, where Mogotsi was allegedly the target of an assassination attempt. It was claimed that unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle. At the time, Mogotsi said he managed to escape the incident unharmed.
The matter has since taken a significant turn following his arrest in connection with the same incident, amid allegations that the shooting may have been staged.
Police confirmed that Mogotsi was taken into custody after a multidisciplinary team executed a J50 warrant of arrest. He has been charged with defeating the ends of justice.
SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the arrest forms part of ongoing investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack.
